LCA Objectives

LCA supports the need for professional integrity and maintenance of standards, and believes in professional self regulation, as is being proposed by the Royal Colleges and government registered organisations, rather than regulation by insurers.

The Care Standards Act will define and set all the necessary regulations in the independent healthcare sector and is welcomed by the London Consultants' Association.

The objectives, therefore, of our organisation are simple.

• To maintain the independence of private medical practice and thus to defend the freedom of choice for patients and doctors.
• To maintain the contractual relationship between the patient and the consultant.
• To maintain these principles of clinical freedom while working to the highest standards of practice within accepted professional guidelines.
